How to Study (www.howtostudy.org) is a site that helps you learn to get your studying act together.  It is a project of Chemeketa Community College and is specifically designed to help out two-year college students.

Free Mind (FreeMind - free mind mapping software ) is an open source mind mapping tool. A mind map is a drawing that you create for later reference and to help you remember complicated concepts.  The major commercial alternative to Free Mind is Microsoft Visio.  Free Mind does most everything that Microsoft Visio does and its absolutely free.  Download Free Mind here...

Open Office Suite (www.openoffice.org) is an open source alternative to Microsoft Office.  It is a stable product with nearly all the bells and whistles of the big office suites.  Open Office can read and write Microsoft Office format documents.  Download Open Office here...

Yeah Write! (www.yeahwrite.com) is an easy to use form-based word processor that you can download for free.  Yeah Write! can be used to take notes, organize your notes into drawers and files, manage e-mail addresses in the address book, keep an online "to do" list, and search for one particular phrase in any of your notes.  Download Yeah Write! here...

Tips

  1. Find a quiet and well-lit place to study.
  2. Set yourself up a regular time to study.  Give yourself at least an hour to study for each class.
  3. If you feel like you need to get help then get help.  Ask your instructor where to get some extra help or come to the Learning Enhancement Center.
